How to hire someone to set up AI for your business
The questions to ask a provider, and a plain comparison of the 3 usual routes.
Before you hire anyone, get 4 answers in writing: which accounts the AI will touch, what it may send without a person approving, who owns the data, and what happens after the first month. Then pick the route that matches how much of the work you want to do yourself.
What to ask a provider
- Which accounts will it connect to? Ask for the list: email, calendar, CRM, phone, texts. Ask what it can read and what it can change in each.
- What can it send on its own? Ask whether anything a client or customer sees waits for a person to approve it.
- Are the limits written down? You want a short document that says what each agent may read, change and send, and who it may contact.
- Where does it run, and who owns the data? Ask whether it runs in your accounts or in the provider's tools, and what happens to your data if you stop.
- How will you learn to adjust it? Ask for a live walkthrough and a written guide, so you can correct it without calling anyone.
- What happens after setup? AI tools change often. Ask how and how often the setup gets reviewed and updated.
- What does it promise? Be careful with promised leads, revenue or compliance. Ask what is promised in writing.
- For realtors: ask how listing and inquiry drafts stay on property facts, and how the setup avoids steering or screening by any protected class under federal, state and local fair housing law.
Done for you setup, doing it yourself, or answering software
These are general patterns. Individual providers and products vary, so check each one against the questions above.
| Done for you setup service | Do it yourself in ChatGPT or similar | Answering service software | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | The provider sets it up and trains you | You write the instructions and connect the tools | You configure the vendor product, sometimes with vendor help |
| What it covers | Several tasks across your existing tools | Whatever you build and maintain | Mostly calls and messages on your business line |
| Where it runs | Ask: your accounts or the provider's | Your own accounts | The vendor's platform |
| Keeping current | Depends on the provider's review schedule | Up to you | The vendor ships product updates |
| Your time | Intake, training and reviews | Most of the 3 routes | Setup inside the product, then upkeep |
| Good fit when | You want it built around your workflows without learning the tools first | You enjoy the tools and have spare hours | Your main gap is answering the phone |
How LUR answers these questions
LUR is a done for you setup service run by Carlos Argueta. It is built around your own workflows, in your accounts. Each agent has written limits, and anything a client or customer will see waits for a person to approve it. You get training so you can adjust it, and a monthly check-in adds newer AI that fits your work. LUR does not promise leads, sales or any result.
